Middlewood Locks Festival
A free canal side festival with a fantastic programme of family activities, including music, kayaking, children's workshops, makers' markets, a brass band, a DJ, street food vendors, face painting and arts and crafts as well as a sunset light and fire finale from 9pm.

As part of this free, family-friendly canalside festival, The Wagon Train stage will be hosting an afternoon of music and more, from:
Sound Artists David McFarlane and Tom Kitching (Hidden Canal podcast); samba-reggae drumming band Batala Manchester; Turkish music from Oojami; Barton Belles Choir; indie-folk duo Honest Michael; steelpan maestro Zola, and a DJ set from 7.30pm Just Junkies.
There will also be opportunities to add your own words and pictures to bunting with artist Vicky Tyrell; create zines and crafts with Art with Heart; and creatively recycle with Trash Pandas.

Access information
The canal side elements of the event are fully accessible, with level access throughout. There is seating available and an accessible portable toilet (all toilet facilities are portaloos). The event will take place whatever the weather and there is limited inside space: please dress appropriately
The event will be noisy and busy, with the indoor spaces being calmer and quieter and the fire installation at dusk – whilst using recorded sound – being more tranquil. You can come and go as suits. It’s okay to bring dogs if they’re okay with crowds – the fire installation does not include fireworks.
