Salford Everywhere
A monumental "living portrait" of the City of Salford in 2026, this ambitious public artwork is led by award winning artist Matthew Rosier, whose work blends film, sound and community collaboration.
What creates the character of a city in 2026? Is it the people in it or spaces they are in?
Creative Producers From The Other are developing the work with Matthew and a creative team that includes music direction by AFRODEUTSCHE, movement direction by Company Chameleon and videography by Izzy Pye.
Throughout 2026, the creative team have been meeting communities across Salford, inviting groups and individuals to be part of this ambitious public artwork. Over two busy weeks of filming, at locations as diverse as Lower Kersal Social Club, Grand Palais Swinton, Media City and Salford Lads Club, 1553 Salfordians were captured on camera. The faces in the final piece will represent over 150 community groups, including: community Rugby League club Cadishead Rhinos ARLFC, specialist college Chatsworth Futures, community health initiative Dancing with Dementia, Irlam & Cadishead Foodbank, workers from the Royal Mail, staff from St Mary's Church Ellenbrook and The Yemeni Community Association.
Salford Everywhere will culminate in early October, when the resulting film will be projected onto buildings, forming a monumental living portrait.
At Peel Park this autumn, a free community gathering will feature the finished film boldly projected onto the University of Salford's Maxwell Building, accompanied by a bespoke live mix created by Salford-based DJ, AFRODEUTSCHE, featuring Salford's rich musical heritage.
Further details about the finale event in October will be announced soon.
