Our Park, Our Story, Celebrating 180 years

Join the Barton Theatre Company, Farnworth and Walkden Brass Band, Maria Angotti, green badge guides and more for an event featuring performance, music, spoken word... and the world's oldest public park! There will also be the chance to see a trail that local artist Paul Pickford has created, in collaboration with St Philip’s CE Primary School.
The Wagon Train is a pop-up festival in your neighbourhood with free, family-friendly entertainment happening in parks and venues throughout the summer of Salford’s 100th anniversary as a city. At Wagon Train events so far, Walk the Plank have invited local musicians, poets and DJs to the stage, as well as creating space for art and craft workshops, foraging and mindfulness sessions, in a programme co-created with Salford’s citizens.
This event has been created by Salford City Council parks team and Friends of Peel Park, for the historic park’s 180th anniversary.

Visitors with a disability can use the car park in front of Salford Museum and Art Gallery (M5 4WU) or Delaney Car Park (M5 4RB). These are pay and display and cost around £2.50 for a three-hour stay.
There is wheelchair access around the park, and the address of the park is - Peel Park, Crescent, Salford, M5 4WU
Please note: the ramped access at the southern end of the park (behind the museum) is long and steep, and may not be suitable for some wheelchair users. There is an alternative wheelchair-accessible ramp adjacent to the University of Salford student residences in the north-west of the park.
Paths across and around the park are level and well surfaced, and most areas are accessible by wheelchair, including both footbridges across the river and the riverside path.
An accessible portaloo will also be available on site
Events will take place whatever the weather! All Wagon Train events are inclusive, all welcome. We encourage attendees to walk or use public transport when planning their journey. The events take place on even ground, with no steps, and there is bench-style seating available. There are four steps onto the Wagon.
